Iridium
Satellite Solutions
There is only one satellite telephone in the world
that offers complete global coverage Iridium.
Colin used Iridium telephones on his previous expedition
through Mongolia and Siberia and the phones provided
reliable, clear service at all times.
For
the Vancouver to Moscow expedition, a reliable satellite
connection is more important than ever. The phone
will be used to transmit data to update this website
with photos and text, to communicate with schools
that follow the journey and to contact the media with
voice and data transmissions. Most importantly, a
reliable phone is a life-saver in the event of an
emergency.
Everyone
who enjoys monitoring the progress of the expedition
owes some gratitude to Iridium for providing the revolutionary
technology that enables communication from the most
remote corners of the globe.
Tim
and Colin are happy to use Iridium phones and would
like to thank Iridium for having the vision to support
the Vancouver to Moscow expedition.

Specialized Office Systems
This Vancouver-based company creates specialized practice management software for denturists. While the denturist software business seems to have no relation to adventure, CEO Dean Fenwick saw that running an expedition and a dynamic company are essentially the same. Both require a group of motivated individuals with a shared goal to achieve results that some might believe are impossible. Dean has been instrumental in managing various elements of the expedition.

Helly
Hansen
Helly Hansen is a Norwegian company with over a century's
experience producing top-of-the-line clothing for
both land and ocean environments. Now an industry-leading
maker of rugged sportswear, Helly Hansen earned its
reputation by creating tough clothing for working
people. Fishers, sailors and outdoorsmen worldwide
will speak fondly of the durable, warm clothing Helly
Hansen has provided over the decades.
Fourteen
years ago when Colin worked on a commercial fish boat
off the West Coast of Canada, he wore the gear that
all the fishermen swore by Helly Hansen. Because
fishermen live and work in the elements, they wear
only the best protection, and their choice was always
Helly Hansen.
Colin
and Tim are proud to have Helly Hansen as their sponsor
and supplier of the best outdoor clothing on the market.
The
Vancouver to Moscow expedition will pass through two
of the most extreme environments on earth: winter
in Siberia (where temperatures of 60°C are
not uncommon) and the North Bering Sea, where the
frigid temperatures, storms and icebergs are known
to take down the largest ships. In these environments
the best clothing is what keeps expeditioners alive.

B.O.B.
Trailers
BOB was started in 1991 to fill the need for a versatile,
light weight rig for transporting 'stuff' on a bike:
tools, camping gear, groceries, etc. They manufacture
the best in portable, versatile and durable trailers
and strollers to meet the needs of cyclists and active
parents. BOB's philosophy mirrors the expedition's..."As
a general theme, we aspire to use our cars and other
resource consuming products as little as possible
(not an everyday easy task mind you...)."
The
Vancouver to Moscow Expedition will use the BOB bicycle
trailers to transport their equipment through the
most difficult terrain in the world. They are traveling
through road-less Siberian wilderness in temperatures
colder than those encountered by polar expeditions
and for distances much further. Their lives depend
on the durability of these trailers and that's why
the team chose BOB.

Because
Colin and Tim will be cycling extremely rough roads,

by rain, snow, hail and wind, it is essential to use
panniers that will hold up in the toughest conditions.
We are proud to be using Serratus Aqua-Not panniers.
These durable waterproof panniers are designed for
the rigors of long-distance cycling.
The
expedition will also use Serratus PFDs appropriately,

Sea.
